X-RAY TECHNOLOGY
Absolem has the necessary expertise and permits to integrate X-ray sources into advanced machines or to ensure that your machine is optimally suited for use in an X-ray environment.
Ionizing radiation is a versatile technology that can be used in various sectors and applications, such as:
-
medical industry (quality inspection, sterilization...)
-
food industry
-
recycling of valuable metals and other materials
-
...
FANC class III
Absolem holds a class III license from the Federal Agency for Nuclear Control (FANC).
This authorizes us to use or integrate ionizing radiation in industrial X-ray applications, sealed X-ray systems, X-ray measurement and inspection equipment, laboratory setups, non-destructive testing systems, and OEM machine manufacturing with integrated X-ray sources.
Cases
Sector: BATTERY RECYCLING
Intelligent X-ray technology in a rugged battery sorting machine
Challenge: Integrating a smart AI-driven X-ray scanner into a compact, easy-to-operate machine.
Solution: Development and construction of a robust, safe, and intuitive machine that fits seamlessly into the customer’s existing recycling infrastructure.
Result: Successful delivery of the first operational battery sorting machine, with plans for further international expansion.
Sector: Hot cell solutions
Development and construction of solutions and equipment suitable for use in “hot cells”
Challenge: Develop a process and a machine that allow the customer to perform laser and precision cutting on small cylinders in a hot cell. The equipment must also be easy to dismantle. (Did you know that dismantling and processing a contaminated machine often costs more than developing and building it?)
Solution: Conducting endurance tests in close collaboration with the customer to determine what is and isn’t durable. Learning from each other’s strengths and experience to design, test, and build creative machine interfaces until we arrive at the best solution.
Result: Two easy-to-operate devices (with manipulators) that are X-ray-resistant and designed to minimize waste after decommissioning; they have been in operation in the hot cell since 2024.
